Aww: We Asked This Five-year-old to Design His Dream Harvard House, and He Drew His Mom and Dad Getting Along

Michael Smith Jr. (5) sports a “Future Harvard Freshman” XL t-shirt, a little too big for him in size and expectations. Nevertheless, we let the boy dream and ask little Michael to draw which of the twelve Harvard upperclassmen houses he hopes to be sorted into. Michael gives our Fly-by reporters a knowing nod and draws a picture of his mom and dad getting along.

“Aww, is that your mom and dad in love?” one of our reporters asks. “Not in love, just not fighting,” replies Michael. “That alone would be the dream.”

We show him pictures of Lowell’s courtyard, Winthrop’s renovated suites, and even Pfoho’s 2024 housing day video in an attempt to spark some inspiration in the kid. However, Michael sticks to the claim that his dream house is an “unbroken home.” Our reporters don’t have the heart to tell him that his parents have already filed for divorce and that he also gives major quad energy.
