‘We’re Not in Canaday Anymore!’ Freshman Celebrates Emerald City Housing Assignment

Here at Flyby, we know that there’s no place like home. We also know that some houses are unequivocally undesirable. That’s why when one freshman celebrated his placement to the Emerald City, we knew something was fishy.

“I was watching The Wizard of Oz in my Canaday D forced double when, suddenly, I looked up and saw an individual in a tree costume,” the student told Flyby reporters. “I had heard about this in the movies, but at that moment, I knew where I was headed: the Emerald City.”

Currier House, sometimes referred to ironically as the ‘Emerald City,’ has been reclaimed by Oz aficionados for its striking resemblance to Dorothy’s fantastical world.

When the light comes through the skylight in the refurbished ’90s dining hall, the ceiling resembles a shining emerald. The dorm rooms, widely recognized for their lack of suites, could easily house a lone wizard. Once students make the arduous journey to the remote location, they must use a Harvard ID to enter the space, a nod to the exclusivity of the Emerald City.

The freshman shared that he plans to submit a transfer application next semester.
